"Elvis - still ON TOUR"

Welcome Dick Grob and Sam Thompson as Special Guests!

Dick Grob
was on the Palm Springs, CA police department in 1968 when he met Elvis Presley who offered him some ice tea when he was watching the singer's home. By the time Elvis opened in Las Vegas with his stage show, Dick was asked to help with security.  Not long after when Elvis started touring across the country, Dick not only started working security for The Elvis Presley Show, but was convinced by Elvis to move to Memphis where he could be full time security at both Graceland and on tour.  Dick remained with Elvis for the rest of his life and also helped set up security at Graceland after Elvis and his mother's graves were made permanent in Meditation Garden at Graceland.

Sam Thompson first met Elvis Presley in November 1972.  An officer with the Shelby County Sheriff's Department at the time, Elvis and Sam became fast friends and in July, 1973, Elvis purchased a home for Sam less than a mile from the gates of Graceland.  Sam traveled with Elvis on the road tours from 1972 until 1976 as Elvis' friend and companion.  In July 1976, Sam went to work full time for Elvis, as his personal bodyguard and tour advance man, providing security for Elvis at Graceland, his other homes in California and on all the road tours, including hotel and airport security.  From July 1976 until the time of Elvis' death on August 16, 1977, Sam accompanied Elvis on ten (10) separate road tours, comprising approximately one hundred and thirty (130) separate concert and stage performances.  Altogether, Sam witnessed, from a very personal perspective, over 200 separate concert or stage performances by Elvis Presley.  Sam was present at the recording sessions of eight (8) albums.
